This is student work for a class assignment. It is not affiliated with the brand Vans. These images were made by feeding AI my own photos and asking it to edit or create images from them. I wanted to create the concept of the photos being taken in a haunted house.

About the Video

I chose to create an explanatory video for my class assignment to talk about how both new and old collectors can use League of Comic Geeks to level up their collection. The purpose and call to action of the video is for viewers to go to the website and sign up for an account. I used my smartphone and the app Blackmagic Camera to record all of the footage aside from the screen recordings of my PC. I took all of the footage myself and edited the video in Adobe Premiere Pro. Nothing was AI generated and I did not use AI for any part of this process.

My favorite part of the process was actually gathering all of the footage. I enjoyed screen recording from my personal League of Comic Geeks account and I definitely liked having an excuse to go down to the comic store to record the walls and shelves! I didn't mind recording myself, but I absolutely hated the editing process just because I do not like listening to myself talk. The actual editing and messing around in Adobe Premiere was pretty fun though, so I suppose that offset my discomfort with listening to the same clips of me talking for a few hours! The editing was the most challenging part, as I have not edited a video in Adobe Premiere Pro before. I am more familiar with editing within social media platforms, so it was a bit of a learning curve.

Why League of Comic Geeks?

I have always been a massive nerd with a huge love of superheros. I have been collecting comics for almost five years now. I started collecting the Amory Wars comics and the Vaxis graphic novels thanks to my love of Coheed and Cambria (a band that bases their music on the aforementioned comics written by their frontman). Only recently did I start getting more serious about it with the new Batman run that started just a couple of months ago!

After moving to the cities, I got a new local comic store that used League of Comic Geeks as their way to connect with their customers. I realized how much easier it was to see what was coming out when, as well as subscribing to comics and requesting for certain variant covers to be pulled.

I wanted to do something different after doing my last few projects on Vans for this class. So, I figured why not tackle another passion of mine. Plus, it was nice a excuse to show off the Superman popcorn bucket I use to hold my comics (man-- that movie was so good). I would definitely be open to making videos again in the future and I would love to get better at editing. However, I do think I will enjoy the peace -- for as long as it lasts -- of not hearing my voice say the same thing for hours while I edit.
